Gamerbake and Failbetter Games raise record funds for Special Effect at Halloween bake off

Gamerbake and Failbetter Games raise record funds for Special Effect at Halloween bake off

With over 100 sign-ups, tonnes of tasty cake, and heaps of fantastic prizes, our spooky Zubmariner Bake Off was a resounding success, and helped Failbetter celebrate the launch of Sunless Sea's fantastic first expansion in style. It was a launch party with a difference, not just because of the mountains of cake, the (not so) terrifying face- painting, or the tantalising lucky dip, but because all proceeds from the night's entertainment were donated to our charity partner, Special Effect. Gamerbake and Failbetter unite for Zubmariner Bake Off

Believe it or not, it's been almost two months since Gamerbake moseyed on over to Leamington for an evening worthy of folklore. By now, you're probably wondering when you'll next be able to clap your eyes on a menagerie of delicious baked goods. The answer, you lucky rascals, is quite soon. Because we're hitting the road again, and this time we've teamed up with Sunless Sea creator Failbetter Games for a bake off of spooky proportions. Along with Failbetter, we'll be heading back down to London's Loading Bar on October 27 — that's right,  just in time for Halloween — to celebrate the launch of Sunless Sea's first expansion, Zubmariner. As players prepare to delve into the dark depths beneath the Unterzee when Zubmariner lands on October 11, we'll be delving into the tasty depths of sweet, sweet cake. Naturally, the theme of our Zubmariner Bake Off is 'Terrors from the Deep,' so we'll be looking for bakes that harken back to your favourite underwater gaming terrors....

Gamerbake Leamington Spa: Brewster’s Hyperlight Pixel Bake Blasts The Competition

Gamerbake Leamington Spa: Brewster’s Hyperlight Pixel Bake Blasts The Competition

Gamerbake wended its way over to Leamington Spa for another bake off and we were amazed by the reception we got from the local community. On the top floor of The Drawing Board, we were fortunate enough to be joined by the great and the good of the local Spa scene to indulge in 12 fantastically indie cakes for our bake off (as well as a handful of other entries). While our crack judging team of Keith Stuart, Nat Griffith and Lorna Cooper steadily worked their way through the cakes, over 40 people chatted, played VR Karts, drove a rally car with their eyes for Special Effect and played Overcooked. Oh and ate lots of cake for charity, of course. And at the end of the evening, after much consideration, it was Kat Brewster who walked away with a very special edition of Overwatch (normally worth £100) for her wonderfully colourful Hyperlight Pixel Cake. Yummy! Prize time! Thanks to all those bakers...@TheDBLeamington @Gamerbake pic.twitter.com/fWCTU5mqgl —...

Gamerbake and GamesAid team up for charity bake sale

Gamerbake and GamesAid team up for charity bake sale

Before we head down to Leamington on July 21 for what we (rightly) assume to be the West Midland's first ever gaming themed bake off, we'll be teaming up with GamesAid for an impromptu charity bake sale at London's very own Loading Bar. The idea is simple; we amass a mountain of tasty treats, you buy them at even tastier prices, and together we raise money for GamesAid all while chewing over that juicy E3 gossip. You betcha it's gonna be good. Tickets for the event are available for free over on Eventbrite, so do come on down and see what all the fuss is about. It doesn't matter whether you stay for an hour or ten minutes, there'll be cake, drink, and lots of friendly faces, and better yet, all proceeds will go to GamesAid to help disadvantaged and disabled children and young people. While we'll be lugging down a metric ton of the sweet stuff, we're also looking for bakers to...
